After a Summer as interim music director (Conductor Laureate) at the Santa Fe Opera,

Kenneth Montgomery will be conducting Verdi's Requiem at the National Concert Hall in Dublin

with the National Symphony Orchestra. Kenneth would like to dedicate the performance to

the memory of Seamus Heaney.

Orpheus with his lute made trees,

And the mountain tops that freeze,

Bow themselves, when he did sing:

To his music plants and flowers

Ever sprung; as sun and showers

There had made a lasting spring.

Everything that heard him play,

Even the billows of the sea,

Hung their heads, and then lay by.

In sweet music is such art,

Killing care and grief of heart

Fall asleep, or hearing, die.

"It is with horror and disbelief that I witness what is happening in the Netherlands, my home for over 30 years. I urge the government and political parties to change the destructive plans and reconsider these unjust cuts in the performing arts."
